86 Years of Service
Founded on July 30, 1940, the Professional Fire Fighters of Georgia has grown from a small group of dedicated firefighters into a statewide organization representing 2,900+ members across 22 local chapters. As an affiliate of the International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF), we are part of a global brotherhood committed to the highest standards of professionalism and service.

Nathan Bailey
Nathan Bailey serves as President of the Professional Fire Fighters of Georgia (PFFG) and is a 26-year veteran. He currently serves as a captain of one of the busiest engine companies in Georgia. With years of experience in emergency services and labor leadership, he is committed to advancing the interests of Georgia's professional firefighters through advocacy, education, and strong representation.
As President, Bailey works to strengthen existing IAFF locals, organize firefighters across the state, and ensure every career firefighter has access to the resources and support needed to succeed. His priorities include firefighter health and wellness, workplace safety, legislative advocacy, fair compensation, and improving the delivery of fire and emergency services throughout Georgia.
Bailey believes that a stronger fire service begins with investing in the men and women who serve. His goal is to build a united voice for Georgia's professional firefighters while promoting professionalism, accountability, and excellence in the fire service.
Emily Alger
Emily Alger serves as Secretary of the Professional Fire Fighters of Georgia (PFFG) and is a Lieutenant with Athens-Clarke County Fire & Emergency Services. She also proudly serves as President of IAFF Local 2795, where she helped rebuild the local, successfully led the effort to restore collective bargaining rights, and strengthened member engagement through dedicated leadership.
Emily is passionate about advocating for firefighters, mentoring future union leaders, and ensuring every member has a strong voice in the workplace. She believes that effective leadership is built on service, integrity, and the willingness to step up when challenges arise.
Known for her positive attitude and determination, Emily brings energy, creativity, and a collaborative approach to everything she does. Whether she's supporting members, organizing initiatives, or representing Georgia firefighters, she is committed to building a stronger, more united fire service across the state.
When she's not at the firehouse or working on union business, Emily enjoys spending time with her family, is a self-proclaimed candle scent critic, an avid dog lover, and believes there's always room for a little humor—even on the busiest days.
